What this firm is, and what it is not. The limits below are not fine print. They are how you know where the edges are. A firm that names its edges is one you can trust inside them.

A firm that serves people who have been failed by institutions owes them clarity about its own limits. Here are mine.

I am not a lawyer, and this firm does not practice law. Nothing on this site, and nothing in any engagement, is legal advice. I hold a hard line against the unauthorized practice of law. That line does not move.

This is a feature, not a shortfall. Legal questions deserve a licensed attorney who answers for their advice and carries the duty that comes with it. When your situation needs one, I will say so plainly and refer you out. Knowing the boundary is part of the service.

I do not take work aimed at another person

Every engagement here is one of two things: helping you obtain and organize records that are yours to ask for, or teaching you a skill you then own. I do not accept work directed at a third party, on anyone’s behalf, for any reason.

Part of that boundary is not mine to choose. Minnesota licenses investigative work under Minn. Stat. §326.338, and I am not licensed. The rest of it I would hold anyway: the same techniques that let a journalist verify a source let an abuser find someone who moved. I screen every engagement for purpose, and I decline what I cannot establish.

The FAQ sets out exactly where that line falls, including what happens inside a training session.

This is not mental-health or crisis care

I am not a therapist, a clinician, or a crisis counselor. The writing and resources here are educational and informational. They are meant to help you understand what happened to you and orient your next decision. They are not treatment, diagnosis, or a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

If you are in crisis or in danger right now, contact emergency services or a crisis line. The survival guide lists resources that can help.

Mention is not endorsement

This site names people, organizations, institutions, tools, and research. A mention is a reference, nothing more. It does not imply that the named party endorses this firm, my work, or my conclusions. When someone has endorsed the work, I say so directly.

Trademarks

Apple, iPhone, iPad, Mac, and iCloud are trademarks of Apple Inc. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic, PBC. All other marks belong to their respective owners.

OUROBOROS Consulting is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Apple or Anthropic. I choose these tools because their design matches the threat model this work demands. That choice is mine, and I answer for it.
